Source notes & limitations

The All-races block, 15-19 'Total' column. The table repeats its whole structure once per race and origin group and prints 15-17 and 18-19 sub-columns beside the total, so both the block and the column are located explicitly by the extraction script rather than by position. Selected years, not annual: NCHS publishes 1950, 1960, 1970, 1980, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010 and then most recent years, and the gaps between printed rows are not interpolated. This 2019 edition is cited rather than the newer 2020-2021 one because the later edition drops 2010 from its selected years. Cross-checked against that later edition (12 overlapping years, all identical) and against NVSR 72-1 Table 2, compiled independently of the trend tables (6 overlapping years, all identical). Note that cdc.gov returns 403 to browser-like User-Agents and serves plain tool agents instead — the opposite of bls.gov; scripts/link_check.py retries 403s with a plain agent for this reason.

Where this source appears

7 records across 7 decades and countries. Documented gaps are included; a source cited for a gap does not establish a value.

0 of 7 records have a current source audit. A transcription check reads a declared numeric field from a pinned local source file; a calculation replay reads its operands and applies the declared method and rounding rule. A source audit does not independently validate the source or every claim in a record. The date is the last successful local audit; the build checks that its bindings still match.
