Source notes & limitations

The annual compendium republishing New Earnings Survey results. The cited table (page 58 of the scan, 'Average weekly earnings, hours, and hourly earnings of employees in manufacturing and all industries in April, 1972-1976') is the only source in the archive giving UK average hours and hourly earnings for the 1970s; hourly earnings are printed in pence. Read from a scanned volume: the transcription was checked against the rendered page and against the independent ONS long-run weekly-earnings series, which reproduces its 1976 weekly figures exactly (see docs/verification-log.md).

Where this source appears

2 records across 1 decades and countries. Documented gaps are included; a source cited for a gap does not establish a value.

0 of 2 records have a current source audit. A transcription check reads a declared numeric field from a pinned local source file; a calculation replay reads its operands and applies the declared method and rounding rule. A source audit does not independently validate the source or every claim in a record. The date is the last successful local audit; the build checks that its bindings still match.
